Title:
COLD-CURING ADHESIVE FOR POLYVINYL ALCOHOL PARER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5670074
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: The titled adhesive capable of being applied to paper readily in a liquid state at a high temperature and gelling on cooling to bond the paper completely, and prepared by mixing polyvinyl alcohol with a filler and a water-soluble boron compound, and dissolving the resultant mixture in water.

CONSTITUTION: (A) Polyvinyl alcohol, preferably having an average polymerization degree of 500W3,000 and a saponification degree≥97mol%, is mixed with (B) a filler, e.g. calcium carbonate, and (C) a water-soluble boron compound, e.g. boric acid, at an (A): (B): (C) weight ratio of preferably 20W70:30W80: 0.3W2. The resultant mixture is then dissolved in water to give the aimed adhesive having a viscosity of preferably 100W1,000cps at 60°C. For bonding sheets of paper with the adhesive, the sheets of paper are coated with the adhesive heated at 70°C at a coating weight of 5g/m2 (as the solid content) using a roll coater, immediately laminated and allowed to cool.
