Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color liquid display device which is capable of a multicolor or a full-color display and also is capable of being used as a reflection type LCD and has high light transmittance and is capable of a display in high luminance and is capable of being manufactured at a relatively low cost. SOLUTION: Liquid crystal layer 6 being in between a lower glass substrate 1 and an upper glass substrate 2 is divided into plural divided areas 7 in a stripe shape by sealing materials 8. Then, host-guest liquid crystals in which diachronic dyes are added are poured into respective divided areas 7. At this time, for example, host-guest liquid crystals of different colors of two kinds or three kinds are made so as to be alternately poured into stripe shaped respective divided areas 7. As a result, strings of pixels displayable to respectively different two colors of three colors are arranged in a stripe shape. Then, displays of two colors or three colors are made possible and also displays to colors in which two colors or three colors are combined are made possible even without color filters by the host-guest liquid crystals whose colors are different. Thus, a color display whose luminance is high is made possible without color filters.
