To provide a comber that can accurately detect variation in thickness of a sliver fed from each coaming head.
A comber has a plurality of coaming heads, each including a fleece guiding plate provided between a detaching roller and a coaming part calender roller. The coaming part calender roller can change a distance between a driving roller 30 and a driven roller 31 according to a thickness of a sliver, and includes variation detecting means 46 for detecting displacement of the driven roller 31 relative to the driving roller 30. The variation detecting means 46 includes a distance sensor 48 continuously measuring a distance between the driving roll 30 and the driven roller 31. On the basis of a detection signal from the distance sensor 48, the comber controls drive of the detaching roller so that the variation in thickness of the sliver is within a preset range, to adjust piecing timing.
