Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more compact seating arrangement.SOLUTION: A compact seating arrangement for a vehicle comprises two rear passenger seats (3, 4) and a driver seat (2). The driver seat is positioned in front of the rear passenger seats. Each of the seats is arranged to seat an occupant in a relatively upright position. A seat back is inclined to the vertical at an angle of 30° or less. An upper surface of a seat base is separated by 400-500 mm above a floor space (15A, 15B). Feet of occupants in front of the rear passenger seats are placed on the floor space on either side of the driver seat. When the feet of occupants are placed on the floor space, the legs of the occupants form an angle of 30 degrees or less to the vertical.
