PURPOSE: To offer a compact solid-state camera system for a subminiaturized digital electronic still camera, etc.

CONSTITUTION: The camera system is constituted of a compact solid-state camera 1 provided with a small capacity solid-state memory 2a and a chargeable type battery 3 of a small capacity, and a base device 20 provided with a large capacity memory 25 and a large capacity battery 26 for a power supply provided with a charging function, and the camera system is constituted so that both of the camera 1 and the base device 20 caN be electrically connected with each other when the compact solid-state camera is loaded on the base device, and then, the recorded contents in the solid memory of the compact solid-state camera may be transferred to the base device, and the memory may become empty, and also the battery of the compact solid-state camera may be charged by the base device. It is sufficient that the capacity of the solid memory and the battery in the compact solid-state camera is made small, so that the miniaturized and light-weight compact solid-state camera system can be accomplished.
