Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare two fresh frozen blood plasma preparations from about 90% of plasma originated from 400ml donated blood. CONSTITUTION: This blood component separator 1 is composed of a clamping means for tubes connecting a parent bag 31 with child bags 32, 33, 34, a holding container 19 for the child bag 33 to hold a buffy coat layer, a holding container 16 for the child bag 32 to hold a plasma layer, an evacuation means for the containers 16, 19, a pressurizing means for the child bag 32, a weight-measuring means for the child bags 32, 33 and controlling means for each of the above means. The individual means are controlled by the controlling means in interlocked state to collect 2 units of plasma (average value, 160ml; tolerance, ±20ml) in the child bag 32 and collect one unit of plasma (average value, 80ml; tolerance, ±10ml) in the child bag 34.
