To provide a contact switching device capable of preventing short circuit between contacts when they are switched over from a switched-on state to a switched-off state with a comparatively simple structure.
The contact switching device has a liquid metal 3 housed in a part of a channel 2b consisting of a space surrounded by an inner face of a channel forming groove 1b formed on one surface side of a base substrate 1 and a cover 5, and a chamber 2a consisting of a space surrounded by an inner face of a chamber forming recess 1a formed on the one surface side and the cover 5, and a non-conductive gas housed on an end part side on the opposite side to the chamber 2a side in the channel 2b. Then, a by-pass 11 connected with the channel 2b at a site between a pair of adjacent contacts 41, 42 installed separated in an extension direction of the end part and the channel forming groove 1b in the channel 2b is installed.
