Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the corrosion resistance and sliding by providing zinc- aluminum alloy plated layer on at least one side of the surface of either of a conduit tube or inside wire.

CONSTITUTION: A control cable consists of a conduit of a conduit tube 2 and an inside wire 1 inserted in the conduit tube 2 so that it may slide freely. The conduit tube 2 has an outer spring 3 formed by rolling (or expanding and rolling) zinc-aluminum alloy plated steel wire and winding it and an outer coat 4 made of synthetic resin provided on the surface of the outer spring. The zinc-aluminum alloy plated layer contains the eutectic structure of aluminum and zinc and is much superior in corrosion resistance and sliding to an ordinary galvanized one, and can bear long use sufficiently. Moreover, by expanding or rolling the above steel wire, its surface becomes smoother, especially providing improved sliding.
