To prevent an electromagnetic brake from getting out of control due to fusion of a relay and by reduce the number of parts by mounting independently control relays for normal rotation and reverse rotation on the control circuit of a single-phase motor, and giving them a function of the control relay for brake by devising their wiring.
An electromagnetic brake 4 is controlled by control relays 6, 7 for normal rotation and reverse rotation whose wirings are changed. The relay 6, 7 involve a common contact and (a), (b) contact connected to common contact selectively. The coil terminal of a single-phase motor 2 is connected to the phase (n) of a single-phase power source 5, a phase (m) is connected to the (a) contact of the relays 6, 7, and the common contact is connected to both ends of a split-phase capacitor 3 respectively. The (b) contact of the respective relays 6, 7 is connected to the other end of the electromagnetic brake 4 connected to the phase (n). When one of the relays 6, 7 is selected and its a-contact is closed, the phase (n) is connected to one of both ends of the split- phase capacitor 3, and the motor 2 is rotated in the normal or reverse direction. At this time, voltage passes through its b-contact to release the electromagnetic brake 4.
