To provide a control device for an eddy-current brake, which enables generation power control obtaining necessary power for subsequent excitation from kinetic energy at dynamic braking using a small capacity of an auxiliary circuit power source at the initial excitation and also enables brake control.
In the control device for the eddy-current brake, which generates a brake force by subjecting the armatures 11, 12 of a linear induction motor provided at a position facing the rails of a rolling stock to AC excitation, an initial excitation means performs the initial excitation of the control device with a low voltage power source in the auxiliary power source circuit, a power control means uses the characteristic wherein the generation power of the eddy current brake is uniquely determined relative to the frequency of the AC excitation and primary current magnitude to perform control for obtaining a proper amount of the generation power necessary for the operation of the eddy-current brake, and a brake force control means uses the characteristic wherein the brake force is substantially constant irrespective of frequencies and is uniquely determined relative to a primary current magnitude, to control the output voltage so as to obtain a necessary brake force.
