To provide a control device and a control method of a voltage type power conversion apparatus, capable of improving the problem of variation among capacitors in a configuration simpler than the conventional ones.
The control device of a voltage type power conversion apparatus is configured in which an arm is formed by being provided with a plurality of unit converters each equipped with a capacitor, a leg is configured by serially connecting a first arm and a second arm, an AC terminal is connected to a connection part of the first arm and the second arm, a plurality of legs are provided in which the other terminal of the first arm is made to be a first DC terminal, the other terminal of the second arm is made to be the second DC terminal, the first terminal is made to be on a positive side, and the second terminal is made to be on a negative side, and a pulse is produced for operating the unit converter to operate the unit converter. A frequency of a command pulse is a non-integer multiple of a frequency of a system voltage. A non-integer multiple is 3.5 times, for instance.
