A controller (1) for a vehicle includes: an open/closed state detecting means (20) that detects the open/closed state of an engine hood; an atmospheric pressure detecting means (10) that detects the atmospheric pressure in the engine room; and a controlling means (30) that controls the vehicle based on the result of detection by the atmospheric pressure detecting means. The controlling means changes the degree of incorporation of the result of detection by the atmospheric pressure detecting means in vehicle control based on the result of detection by the open/closed state detecting means.
