A cord 24 for ultrasonic waves of an ultrasonic endoscope includes an electric wire cord bundle 37, a braided shield 38 covering the electric wire cord bundle 37, an exterior jacket 39 covering the electric wire cord bundle 37 and the braided shield 38 liquid tight almost closely. An electric cord 35 is arrayed closely within the exterior jacket 39, and the braided shield 38 is kept in close contact with the inner circumferential surface of the exterior jacket 39. A groovelike air passage 40 extended axially is formed in the inner circumferential surface of the exterior jacket 39. The compressed air for the inspection of airtightness spread efficiently through the cord 24 for ultrasonic waves passing through the air passage 40.
