PURPOSE: To provide a tray suitable for stacking and transporting packages by a method wherein a major angle defined by the common fold line and by the adjacent end edge of the associated end panel is greater than a minor angle defined by the common fold line and by the adjacent end edge of the associated side panel.
CONSTITUTION: A major web panel 13 is foldably joined to the adjacent end edge X of a side panel 8 and a minor web panel 17 is foldably joined to the adjacent end edge of the side panel 4 along a fold line Z. Web panels 13 and 17 are foldably joined along a common fold line Y. A tray structured according to the present invention is required to efficiently grip the secondary packages P1 and P2. For example, an angle defined by the fold line X and the common fold line Y is preferably about 57° and an angle defined by the fold line Z and the common line Y is about 49°. The angle relationship as described above ensures the proper gripping of the primary packages such as P1 and P2.
