This new acylated peptide (salt) is produced by condensing a non-hydroxylanoline fatty acid with a protein-derived peptide obtained by hydrolyzing a natural protein. It is useful as a hair cosmetic having excellent effect for preventing the damage of hair and recovering the damaged hair to remarkably improve the feeling of hair such as flexibility, moistness and gloss or a skin cosmetic having protecting and moisture-keeping action on the skin and giving excellent feeling to the skin. This acylated peptide can be produced by reacting a non-hydroxylanoline fatty acid with phosphorus trichloride, purifying the obtained acid chloride by distillation and dropping the product to an aqueous solution of a collagen-induced peptide, etc., to effect the reaction of the components.
