PURPOSE: To cure anestrus or dull estrus cattle safely, readily and effectively by feeding methionine to by-pass rumen of anestrus or dull estrus cattle.
CONSTITUTION: The blending of methionine as one of nutrients, or homologue thereof, to be passed by-pass rumen with a feed to give to the title cattles induces estrus of anestrus or dull estrus cattle, and anestrus or dull estrus cattle can become pregnant. A rumen by-passing preparation which is protected from gastric juice in rumen and digested and absorbed in and after abomasum and shows activity as methionine is used as the methionine to by-pass rumen. For example, preparation mode by protecting methionine or a methionine derivative such as N-stearoylmethionine or a salt thereof with fats and oils or fatty acid or a salt thereof may be used as the rumen by-passing preparation. This method is an effective means and has great industrial significance.
