The cushioning material comprises the fiber assembly 2 obtained by assembling the crimped fiber-shaped vegetable fiber 1. The fiber assembly 2 comprises the vegetable fiber 1 having ≤20cm fiber length. In another aspect, the cushioning material comprises the fiber assembly 2 obtained by assembling and molding the crimped fiber-shaped vegetable fiber 1 with a resin adhesive, and an elastic foam stuck to the fiber assembly 2 so as to cover the assembly 2. The fiber assembly 2 can include the vegetable fiber 1 having ≤20cm fiber length.
