Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a veneer having good quality by controlling the change of a relief angle, which is generated in accordance with the progress of cutting, with a very simple mechanism to cut the veneer stably.
SOLUTION: In a spindleless cutting type veneer lathe, provided with moving mechanisms 18, 25, 35 for moving three sets of rolls 3, 21, 31 as well as a driving mechanism 2 for the outer periphery driving roll 3 and cutting a log 1 while retaining the log 1 by moving said three sets of rolls 3, 21, 31 and supplying the total rotation driving force of the log 1 from the outer periphery driving roll 3, the center of rotation A of the log 1 is moved downward automatically during cutting by a set amount in accordance with the diameter of the log 1 whereby cutting is effected while changing the relief angle of a knife 16.
