Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a cylindrical ceramic body with a little difference in the wall thickness between one end part and the other end part or almost no difference by first casing slurry into a molding die for a first round of molding and reversing the direction of the molding die to perform a second slurry cast molding process.
SOLUTION: An open end on the other end 12b side of a gypsum mold 12 is blocked and slurry obtained by dispersing ceramic powder in a solvent is charged into the gypsum mold 12 from one end 12a side thereof. After holding this state for an optional time, the slurry is drained from the gypsum mold 12. In this case, a first cylindrical molded layer 14 of a porous body is formed on the inner face of the gypsum mold 12. Next, the one end 12a and the other end 12b of the gypsum mold 12 are reversed to each other without releasing the molding from the gypsum mold 12, and the open end of the one end 12a side positioned at the bottom is blocked, while the slurry of the same quality as in the first round of molding is charged inside the first cylindrical molded layer 14 from the other end 12b side. Thus a second cylindrical molded layer 16 of a porous body is formed on the inner face of the first cylindrical molded layer 14. Consequently, it is possible to easily manufacture the cylindrical ceramic body with a little difference in the wall thickness between the one end 12a part and the other end 12b part.
