To provide a dc power supply apparatus in which a peak value of charging current of a smoothing capacitor when a power supply switch is first turned on can be suppressed sufficiently small and which has a stable operation even in a wide range correspondence of a commercial ac power supply.
The dc power supply apparatus includes a rectifying circuit RE which rectifies ac voltage of a commercial ac power supply AC, a smoothing circuit DC having a smoothing capacitor C2 having a large capacitance for converting a voltage to be rectified by the rectifying circuit RE into a dc voltage, a MOSFET insert connected to a charting route of the above-mentioned rectifying circuit and the smoothing circuit, and a gate circuit GC1 which inputs an output voltage of the rectifying circuit RE and drives a MOSFET Q1. The gate circuit GC1 has a Miller integrated circuit MIN1 charged from ON of a commercial ac power supply AC, and a discharge diode D1 for discharging a capacitor C1 of the Miller integrated circuit MIN1 from OFF of the commercial ac power supply AC.
