PURPOSE: To permit the excessive stroke of a hydaulic cylinder due to wrong adjustment of a brake control linkage etc. to be absorbed by the deformation of a push rod, in the captioned apparatus used in a Reach type forklift etc.

CONSTITUTION: The push rods 6 of an operating cylinder 5 is arranged so as to be elongated and shortened within a certain distance by the first and the second rod pieces 20 and 21. The elastic body (compression spring) 27 which urges the rod pieces 20 and 21 in the direction departing each other and does not bend until a brake lever 2 touches a brake stopper 17 is interposed between the rod pieces 20 and 21. Thus, the excessive stroke of the push rod 6 in the hydraulic cylinder such as an operaing cylinder 5 etc. due to the wrong adjustment of brake control linkage is absorbed by the longitudinal deformation of the push rod 6 itself, and each constituting component of the control linkage is prevented from being applied with an excessive load.
