To provide a decorating method which is equipped with high color reproducibility and enables a fine color image with a rich hue to be formed on a body to be decorated, and the decorated body which is decorated by the decorating method and which is equipped with durability and resistance to discoloration.

Metals (metal plates 1-4) are arranged on the surface of the decorated body (a mother alloy 10); a laser is applied onto prescribed microareas which are set on the surfaces of the metals, so that a surface layer of the decorated body can be turned into an alloy; and after that, the metal is replaced by another metal, so that the other microareas can be irradiated with the laser again. The fine color image with the rich hue is formed on the surface layer of the mother alloy 10 by repeating the above steps.
