Abstract:

To provide a thin defogging mirror having a uniform defogging effect over the whole mirror and capable of being formed in various shapes by using a porous planar exothermic heater made of carbon fiber-mixed paper mixed with carbon fibers as a heater.

A planar exothermic heater 2 is made of carbon fiber-mixed paper mixed with carbon fibers and hemp and having the thickness of about 50 μm, and electrodes connected to a power supply by lead wires are arranged. Silvering as a reflecting metal layer 5 and coppering as the protective membrane 4 of a silver membrane are applied in sequence on the surface of a glass layer 6, and the planar exothermic heater 2 pre-impregnated with an epoxy resin is laid and crimped on it. When the planar exothermic heater 2 is carried a current, the heat of the pre-impregnated planar exothermic heater 2 is transmitted to the protective membrane 4, reflecting metal layer 5 and glass layer 6 in sequence, and the surface temperature of the glass layer 6 is increased. When the temperature exceeds the dew point of the high-humidity air near the surface of a defogging mirror 1, the water dew-condensed on the mirror surface becomes steam, and fog is removed.
