DENT FOR LOOM HAVING NITRIDED AND HARDENED SURFACE

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject dent for a loom, useful for an air jet type, etc., excellent in abrasion resistance and capable of preventing rusting by converting an oxide film on the surface of a dent for the loom made of a metallic material into a fluoride film, then carrying out the nitriding treatment and forming a nitrided and hardened layer in the surface layer part.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic material such as a nickel alloy worked into a sheetlike form is subjected to forming working of cold blanking to prepare each dent 10 for a loom having 0.19mm thickness. The prepared dent 10 is then placed in a heat-treating furnace 1. The interior of the furnace 1 is evacuated with a vacuum pump 13 and subsequently heated to 550°C with a heater 3. A fluorine-based gas such as NF3 is then introduced from a gas cylinder 16 to carry out fluorinating treatment. Thereby, an oxide film on the surface of the dent 10 is converted into fluoride film. The gas is subsequently discharged from a vent pipe 6 by the action of the vacuum pump 13 and a nitriding gas is then introduced from a gas cylinder 15 into the interior of the furnace 1 to perform the nitriding treatment. As a result, the objective dent for the loom, having the nitrided and hardened layer formed in the surface layer part, excellent in abrasion resistance and capable of preventing rusting is obtained.
