Title:
DEVICE FOR AUTOMATICALLY PREDETERMINING LENGTH FOR CUT-OFF PIECE OF STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60221216
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To heighten the efficiency of cut-off of a piece of rolled steel by providing means upstream to a cut-off machine so as to detect the width and height of the steel to automatically and exactly predetermine a length for the cut-off piece of the steel.

CONSTITUTION: A calculation and control unit 15 receives a steel width step value W and a steel height step value (h) from a detector 11, a steel position (p) from a detector 13, a steel existence or nonexistence signal (m) from a detector 14, and roller positions a1, a2, a3, a4 and truck positions b1, b2, b3, b4 from a roller-equipped truck, and sends out speed references c1, c2, c3, c4 for motors 6. The unit 15 performs a calculation on the basis of the received inputs so that a length for a cut-off piece of steel is sent out to a cut-off machine located downstream and not shown in the drawing. The cut-off piece with the optimal length is thus produced.
