PURPOSE: To obtain a device for detecting abnormality of a cord laid wire improved in performance for detecting abnormality of the cord laid wire and reliability of the cord laid wire by mechanically detecting and amplifying the change of cord diameter and outputting the change as an electric abnormal signal.

CONSTITUTION: This device is equipped with a pair of a fixed stranding die 2a and a movanle stranding die 2b fitted in contact to a substrate 1 and oppositely installed, a groove 3 for detecting abnormality of a cord laid wire, oppositely provided on both contact faces of the fixed stranding die 2a and the movable stranding die 2b and capable of detecting the change of cord diameter as a movement of the movable stranding die 2b by conducting electricity through a steel cord 10, a lever type operation bar 5 supported on the substrate 1 and oppositely installed in contact with the movable stranding die 2b and detecting and amplifying the movement and a limit switch 9 operated by being oppositely installed in contact with an amplifying operation end part 8 of the lever type operation bar 5 and outputting abnormal signal of the cord laid wire.
