PURPOSE: To provide an ignition/firing device for a gas lamp, in which a spark rod, a flame rod and the like are not arrange in a mantle whereby the life of the mantle is elongated and the number of spark rod, flame rod and the like are reduced.

CONSTITUTION: An ignition/firing device for gas lamp is provided with one piece or more than two pieces of upward mantles 10a, 10b for burning combustion gas in the inside cavity thereof, a combustion gas supplying means 5, supplying combustion gas or fuel gas and air, an ignition/firing means 7 for the combustion gas and a safety device 8 for preventing the discharging of the combustion gas. An auxiliary combustion burner 16, equipped with the ignition/firing means 7 for igniting/firing the combustion gas and safety device 8 is provided near the mantles 10a, 10b.
