PURPOSE: To enable a palletizer or depalletizer, in which a plurality of cargoes are put on each level, to easily hold corrugated cardboard boxes or the like regardless of the presence of openings therein, by simultaneously push-holding the boxes or the like with two pairs of pushing means.

CONSTITUTION: When a moving truck 6 is brought to a position right over a table lifter 3, the lifter is moved up. When the top of corrugated cardboard boxes A is detected by a photoswitch 42, the lifter 3 is stopped. The four sides of the uppermost cardboard boxes A are simultaneously pushed by a right, a left, a front and a rear pushing plates and cylinders 28W31 for slide boss movement. When the pressure of the pushing has reached a prescribed level, a pressure switch is operated to slightly move the lifter 3 down and displace the moving truck 6 to a position right over a lifter 2. After that, the lifter 2 is moved up to bring the top of a pallet 50 into contact with the corrugated cardboard boxes A held by a holder 7. The holding of the boxes A is then ceased. Such steps are repeated for tight stacking.
