Abstract:

PURPOSE: To supply oxygen gas at a low cost and with enhanced efficiency according to fluctuation in demand for oxygen gas, by introducing liquefied oxygen from a liquefied-oxygen tank into an air liquefying and separating device upon an increase in demand for oxygen gas, and introducing liquefied nitrogen from a liquefied-nitrogen tank into the air liquefying and separating device upon a decrease in the demand.

CONSTITUTION: When demand for oxygen gas is decreased, liquefied nitrogen LN is introduced into a double rectifying column 4 of an air liquefying and separating device 21, and liquefied oxygen LO in a quantity according to the quantity of liquefied nitrogen fed in is led out and stored in a liquefied-oxygen tank 10, whereby the quantity of oxygen gas GO produced is reduced by a quantity corresponding to the quantity of the liquefied oxygen LO. When the demand for oxygen gas is increased, the liquefied oxygen in the tank 10 is introduced into a main condenser 5 or a lower part 4c of an upper column of the double rectifying column through a liquefied-oxygen pump 59 and a valve 60 in a conduit 28. The liquefied oxygen LO exchanges heat with nitrogen gas GN at the main condenser 5, thereby being evaporated to become oxygen gas GO, which is led out through the lower part 4c of the upper column, and is passed through a main heat exchanger 3 and an oxygen compressor 7 so that the whole amount thereof is supplied to a place where it is demanded, without branching to a gas liquefier 22.
