To provide a device and a method for motor control wherein a battery and an inverter can be instantaneously cut off from each other without influence on the contact of a contactor connecting the battery and the inverter together in a system in which a direct-current voltage of the battery is converted into an alternating-current voltage by the inverter to drive a motor.
The contactor 2 is controlled to transit from a closed state to an open state by carrying out current control by setting a target torque to 0 (that is, a d-axis current command value Id* and a q-axis current command value Iq* corresponding to the target torque of 0 are output from a map circuit 10) before the battery 1 and the inverter 5 are cut off from a state where the battery 1 and the inverter 5 are connected.
