Abstract:

To provide a device and method which enabled a member made of a microwaves-absorbing synthetic resin to be uniformly heated, while being limited spatially.

A device for heating a member made of a synthetic resin which absorbs microwaves includes a microwave generator 1, an antenna 4 having at least one free end 5 and conducting microwaves, and a shielding device 6 surrounding the antenna 4. The shielding device 6 has an inside diameter shorter than half a wavelength, projects beyond the free end 5 of the antenna 4, and has an opening 7 in its front. The member to be heated is inserted from an opening 7. Furthermore, a method for heating, welding, deforming, or crosslinking the member by use of the device is provided.
