To provide a device for inspecting a can body capable of inspecting whether a pattern coincides with recessing and projecting work while performing recessing and projecting work at a high speed.

The device is provided with a camera 3 which photographs the can body during recessing and projecting work, an inspection timing detecting means 2 which detects the prescribed timing for inspection during recessing and projecting work, a picture processing means 4 which processes pictures photographed by the camera 3, and a judging means 9 which sets a first reference position 32 based on a part of the pattern 11a extracted when a part of the extracted pattern 11a coincides with the pattern becoming a reference for inspection and which obtains the distance L between the first reference position 32 and a second reference position 42 set in the prescribed position.
