PURPOSE: To continuously show the plotted results of the shaft horsepower of a main engine in the characteristic diagram of the main engine displayed on the displaying screen of a computer, such as the CRT, etc., at arbitrary time intervals by providing processing means for the torsion detecting data of a shaft horsepower meter, rotation detecting data processing means, shaft horsepower calculating means, and main engine characteristic drawing means, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A device for monitoring operation of marine main engine is provided with torsion detecting data processing means 20, 21, and 22 which find a mean torsion value within a unit time from the data of a torsion meter and a mean torque value from the mean torsion value, rotation detecting data processing means 30 and 31 which calculate the average revolutions per minute within a unit time from the data of a tachometer, and shaft horsepower calculating means 50 which calculates a mean shaft horsepower value within a unit time from the mean torque value and average revolutions per minute. The device is also provided with a plotting means 60 which plots the number of revolutions and shaft horsepower value obtained from the calculated values of the means 50, main engine characteristic chart drawing means 40 and 41, and displaying means 70 which synthesizes and displays the data obtained from the means 60 and 40 and 41.
