Abstract:
The manure is pushed along a gutter with base (1) and sides (2) to the inlet of a drain (3). Side gutters (4) can feed into the main gutter (1, 2). A slide-piece (5) moving along the gutter on two rails (6) consists of a pair of runners (7) joined by plates (8,9). The front end of one plate (9) supports a flap (11) which pivots on a horizontal axis (10). A hole (12) between the plates (8, 9) enables the manure to pass between. a hydraulically-operated piston-rod (14) drives the slide-piece (5). a plate (16) in the sides (2) of the gutter has fixed to it a bearing (17) for a horizontal pin on the end of the cylinder (13). The other cylinder end is enclosed by a guide (18) on a support (19) fixed to the sides (2) of the gutter.
