To save power and to reduce heat generation in a digital camera having a solid-state image pickup device (CCD) in which a signal output route is branched.

The digital camera comprises: the solid-state image pickup device having a vertical transfer path for transferring signal charges generated by photoelectric conversion and stored, a horizontal transfer path connected to the vertical transfer path for transferring the signal charges transferred by the vertical transfer path, and at least two horizontal transfer paths branched from the end part of the horizontal transfer path for transferring the signal charges transferred by the horizontal transfer path; driving means provided for each horizontal transfer path for supplying prescribed driving pulses to the corresponding horizontal transfer path; a voltage setting means for setting a power supply voltage to be applied to the driving means for each driving means; and a voltage application means for applying the power supply voltage set in the voltage setting means to the driving means.
