PURPOSE: To decide the positions or layout of sewing patterns to an object to be sewn without performing test sewing by providing a display device for comparatively displaying basic pattern display and sewing pattern display and displaying whether the selected pattern is a single pattern or continuous patterns.
CONSTITUTION: On the front panel of a sewing machine, an amplitude feeding amount adjusting means 20 is provided to adjust the amplitude and the feeding corresponding to the selected pattern. Further, first and second display means 31 and 33 are provided for displaying various messages concerning the pattern and the sewing selected by a pattern selecting means with pattern group selection keys 10 as the components. Then the second display means 33 indicates basic pattern display 34 due to the basic display data of the basic amplitude and feeding amount to the selected pattern, pattern display 35 due to the display of the basic display data or the calculated result of coefficient data to the adjusted amount of the amplitude/feeding adjusting means 20, and pattern kind display 36 showing whether the selected pattern is the single pattern or the continuous patterns.
