Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a disulfide compound, comprising a specific chemical structure and quantitatively convertible into a high-purity thiol compound for industrially producing a carbapenem compound having excellent germicidal activities in good yield.
SOLUTION: This disulfide compound is represented by a chemical structure of formula I or its acid addition salt. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by reactant, e.g. 3-mercaptoazetidine with a compound represented by formula II (L is an eliuminable group), providing 3-mercapto-1-(1,3-thiazolin-2- yl)azetidine represented by formula III and carrying out the oxidizing reaction of the resultant compound such as direct passing of air through the reactional solution in the presence of an iron trichloride catalyst without isolating the prepared compound from the reactional solution.
