To provide a door lock device for an automobile, by which the malfunction of a child lever from the place of child unlock to the place of child lock is prevented even when large inertial force works when urging force applied to the child lever is reduced and the operationability of the child lever can be improved.
When a child lever 25 is positioned at the place of child unlock and a door is closed, the operating section 25a of the child lever 25 is engaged with a constraining hole 15b formed to the peripheral section 12 of a door opening, and the child lever 25 is rocked from the place of child unlock to the place of child lock against urging force by large inertial force. The constraining hole 15b obstructs the malfunction of the child lever 25 to the place of child unlock at that time, and the child lever 25 is constituted so as to be maintained at the place of child unlock.
