To provide a drain pipe washing machine which is enhanced in the saving of energy consumed by using an engine, and reduced in unnecessary engine noise.
The drain pipe washing machine is formed of: a conveying pump 3 for delivering washing water W stored in a water storage tank 2; the engine 4 for driving the conveying pump 3; a feed water pipe line 5 for feeding the washing water W, and having a feed water hose 5h having a washing nozzle 5n arranged at the tip thereof, and insertable into a drain pipe P; and a main pressure adjusting valve 6 connected to the feed water pipe line 5 and to a surplus water port 2r of the water storage tank 2. The drain pipe washing machine is further formed of: an opening/closing functional valve 7 connected in parallel with the main pressure adjusting valve 6, and having at least an opening/closing function; a surplus water detecting section 8 for detecting the flow rate of surplus water Wr flowing into the surplus water port 2r of the water storage tank 2; and a control section 9 for switching the opening/closing functional valve 7 to an opening side and the rotation of the engine 4 is switched to a preset low-speed mode when the flow rate is not smaller than a predetermined value based on a detection result of the surplus water detecting section 8, while switching the opening/closing functional valve 7 to a closed side and the low-speed mode of the engine is canceled when the flow rate is smaller than the predetermined value based on the detection result of the surplus water detecting section 8.
