Abstract:
To improve safety of ACC by suppressing a risk accompanied by the interruption of the other vehicle during operation of the ACC.SOLUTION: A drive control device detects an objective vehicle which is in a positional relationship for allowing the objective vehicle to interrupt between an own vehicle and a preceding vehicle during operation of ACC for maintaining a set inter-vehicle distance with respect to the preceding vehicle. The drive control device acquires road shape information related to a road shape in front of a route of the own vehicle, and detects an alert situation having a possibility of the interruption of the objective vehicle on the basis of the information. At this time, if a junction and an intersection exist within a prescribed distance in front of the route of the own vehicle, the drive control device determines the alert situation. Then, when the alert situation is detected, the drive control device changes an inter-vehicle distance. By this constitution, by shortening the inter-vehicle distance, for example, the objective vehicle can be caused to hardly interrupt, and on the other hand, by elongating the inter-vehicle distance, a driver can take preparation for the interruption so that the driver does not mind the interruption by the objective vehicle, thus improving safety of the ACC.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
