To provide a drive support device which can attain the safe drive of a vehicle without giving a sense of incongruity to the driver by obtaining the outside information on the periphery of the vehicle and providing the information on the vehicles approaching to an area set in the direction where the driver's eyes look at a control panel in order to evade a case where the car crashes frequently due to the drivers who are looking at their control panel and not looking at front directions while they are operating their navigations, air conditioners, etc.
This drive support device is provided with an outside situation monitoring part 22 which monitors an entire periphery by means of a camera 21, an obstacle detection part 23 which detects the obstacles from the information obtained by the part 22, an obstacle information display part 24 which is placed in the direction at which a driver looks when he/she operates a control panel and a dangerous obstacle decision part 31 which decides the dangerous obstacles from the information obtained by the part 23. Then the image of an approaching object is shown at the display part 24 only when a dangerous obstacle is detected by the part 31.
