To improve the safety of a washing machine by preventing the washing machine from being operated in the state the opening-closing part to be opened or closed in the taking in or out washing is open as much as possible.
When a mid lid 22A is closed with a drum lid 43A kept open, as a drum 4 is reversed (counterclockwise) subsequently, the tip of a rear lid 431 comes into contact with a contact part 24 of an outer tub 2. Under such a condition, even if the motor is electrically energized continuously for the rotation of the drum 4, the drum 4 will not rotate and the motor is locked. The opening of the drum lid 43A is detected by checking the locking of the motor. During such a processing of detecting the opening or closing of the drum, if the power OFF operation or temporary stop operation is made, the operation is put on standby and is restarted after the processing of detecting the opening or closing of the drum. This eliminates such a failure as blocking users from closing the drum lid 42A.
