To provide a drum washing machine improved in washing performance by adding a mechanical force to laundry without relying on a system of circulating water in a water tub by a circulating pump.
The drum washing machine in which a rotary drum 4 formed in a bottomed cylindrical shape and storing the laundry is installed in the water tub 3 so that the rotation axis direction is directed in a horizontal direction or inclined downward from the horizontal direction, from the open front side toward the back side to be the bottom, and which performs at least one of the washing step and the rinsing step by driving the rotary drum 4 by a motor 6, includes an air circulation system including a suction opening 24 for sucking air from inside the rotary drum 4, a blower 12 for circulating the air, a blowing opening 27 blowing out the air into the rotary drum 4, and an air flow path 23 that connects the suction opening, blower, and blowing opening. The air circulation system is driven while the rotary drum 4 rotates during washing or rinsing to blow air to the laundry during washing or rinsing.
