Abstract:
To provide an organic dye useful for an anisotropic dye film such as a polarizing film, having high dichroism in a short-wavelength region, and excellent in durability.
The dye for an anisotropic dye film is a dye of which the form of free acid is represented by formula (1), and has two or more sulfo groups and four or more, in total, of sulfo groups and carboxy groups in a molecule, wherein Ar1 and Ar2 each represents a phenylene group, an aromatic heterocyclic group or the like; X1 and X2 each represents a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group or an amino group; Ra, Rb, Rc and Rd each represents a hydrogen atom, a hydroxy group, a carboxy group, an alkyl group or the like; and h represents 0 or 1.
