Abstract:
To provide an electric brake device securing response to a brake force requirement and a smoothness in motion.SOLUTION: An electric brake device has a motion conversion mechanism for converting a rotary motion of a motor into a stroke motion of a piston 142, generates brake force by the motor advancing the piston to press a brake pad to a disk rotor and allows grease 250 to intervene between a male screw 180 and a female screw 182 that constitute the motion conversion mechanism. When no brake force requirement exists, the device performs, selectively, standby control in which the piston is caused to stand by at a standby position ΔXwhere (a) a clearance between the brake pad and disk rotor is not larger than a backlash BL between the male screw and female screw, and retract control in which the piston is retracted to a retract position ΔXwhere (b) the aforementioned clearance is allowed to be equal to or more than the backlash.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
