A transparent plastic board 5 protecting a group of LEDs 15 of the electric display device is held from the front and the rear by a grid-shaped front board part 21 of the front side case part 2 and a grid-shaped presser board 6; a group of LEDs 15 forming one dot of display is arranged so as to be faced to each of openings 23, 61 formed in the front board part 21 and the presser board 6; and the front board part 21 is painted in black on the surface and is also provided with an eaves member 8 for shielding external light. The transparent plastic board 5 is surely held by the grid-shaped front board part 21 and the presser board 6 in the front and the rear, and the device case is also increased in strength. Since each LED group 15 is partitioned by a black-lacquered frame and the external light is shielded by the eaves member 8, easy-to-see characters and images are displayed in high contrast.
