PURPOSE: To allow an electric lock device for a trunk door, etc., to be well used for various purposes by providing easier timing setting for the engaging and releasing of various parts.

CONSTITUTION: This device has a latch 4 provided on the door side which engages and rotates with a striker 2 on the body side, a ratchet 12 which engages with the latch 4 to maintain the closed door state, a power supply such as a motor which rotates the latch 4 to the closed door position when rotating forwardly and releases the engagement of the ratchet 12 with the latch 4 when rotating reversely, and a mannual release lever 34 which is coupled to the ratchet 12 to allow the mannual release of the ratchet 12 from the latch 4. The mannual release lever 34 disengages the power supply from the latch 4 and also releases the ratchet 12 from the latch 4 when operated to mannually open the door. The ratchet 12 is coupled to an electric motor-driven open lever 18 which engages with the power supply to cause it to operate the ratchet 12 when the latch is in the closed door position but disengages from the power supply when the latch 4 is in the open door position.
