Abstract:

To make an electric parking brake operate in the state that a brake state of a mechanical system and a brake state of a control system agree with each other.

An electric parking brake (EPKB) control device includes, drive parts 1L and 1R that drive motors 8L and 8R to operate or release the EPKB 9L and 9R, a control unit 2, a storage unit 3 that stores the states of EPKB 9L and 9R, and determining units 4L and 4R that determine the states of EPKB 9L and 9R. When an ignition switch 11 is in the ON state, the drive parts 1L and 1R send current into the motors 8L and 8R in a direction that causes the EPKB 9L and 9R to be operated. The determining units 4L and 4R determine based on the current flowing in the motors whether the EPKB 9L and 9R are in the operation states or the release states. When the determined EPKB states and the EPKB states stored in the storage unit 3 agree with each other, the control unit 2 controls the drive parts 1L and 1R so that the EPKB 9L and 9R maintain the states of agreement.
