To provide an electric stapler causing a stapling table of the stapler and a sheet loading surface of a guide plate to constitute a substantially coplanar plane in a stapling, by utilizing a driving force necessary for the stapling action of the stapler.

The stapler is arranged on a base B with a stapler body 1 provided with: a driver driving unit 2 provided with a driver; a clincher driving unit 3 provided with a clincher clinching a staple; the stapling table 4 equipped on the driver driving unit 2 or the clincher driving unit 3, for stapling sheets P to be stapled. The stapler staples allowing an opening 18, formed in the guide plate 16 for feeding sheets P to be stapled, to face the stapling table 4 in a different level therefrom between the driver driving unit 2 and the clincher driving unit 3. The opposite side of the stapling table 4 of the stapler body 1 is supported displaceably with respect to the base B, and the stapler body 1 is displaced with respect to the base B by the stapling action of the driver driving unit 2 or the clincher driving unit 3, which causes the stapling table 4 of the stapler body 1 and the sheet loading surface of the guide plate 16 to constitute a substantially coplanar plane.
