To provide an electromagnetic clutch which can reliably perform a switching operation by electric power.
A clutch shoe 12 allowed to come into contact with the inner peripheral surface 7S of a pulley 7 is pivotally supported to an output shaft 3. This electromagnetic clutch includes a first spring which presses the clutch shoe 12 in the contacting direction. The electromagnetic clutch further includes an operation plate 15 which is rotated when the output shaft 3 is rotated and is movable along the rotating axis X thereof, a guide mechanism which guides the clutch shoe 12 in the direction of the rotating axis X when the operation plate 15 is attracted to an electromagnetic solenoid S and separates the clutch shoe from the inner peripheral surface 7S of the pulley 7, and a holding mechanism which attracts the attraction piece 12D of the clutch shoe 12 to the outer periphery of the electromagnetic solenoid S when the clutch shoe 12 is separated from the pulley and holds the clutch shoe 12 at the separated position.
